2014 Independent Foreign Fiction Prize longlist announced

This past Friday, the longlist for the 2014 Independent Foreign Fiction Prize was announced (the shortlist of six will be announced April 8).  Four of the titles I've read before (three in translation, one in Spanish) and this looks to be a promising list.  After Easter, when I will start buying books again, I'll look into covering at least the finalists, time permitting).

Hassan Blasim, The Iraqi Christ (Arabic; trans. Jonathan Wright) Comma Press

Julia Franck, Back to Back (German; trans. Anthea Bell) Harvill Secker

Sayed Kashua, Exposure (Hebrew; trans. Mitch Ginsberg) Chatto & Windus

Hiromi Kawakami, Strange Weather in Tokyo (Japanese; trans. Allison Markin Powell) Portobello Books (I read this last year as The Briefcase; 2012 Man Asian Prize finalist)
